Normal is overrated

Don't Quit.

Have you ever wanted to quit something?

do you ever look at the work you've already produced and think, "what if people don't like this and I'm already making a fool of myself?"

I'm with you there! There are so many reasons to quit a pursuit. To let go of the possible and embrace what is "practical". After talking to countless creators inside and outside of the mental health field on the podcast, I've come to the realization that those who succeed all have one thing in common: they don't quit.

Rather they learn from the desire to quit and quiet their artistic voice.

As someone who works in the mental health field, I realize that mentality is everything. If you like what you do, you have to have the systems in place to sustain it. It's easy to put your camera away for good, but the ones who win are those who refuse to keep trying.

I've talked about this before, but when I first started out in podcasting, media, and content creation...I was scared out of my mind. I didn't want to put a camera to my face and talk because talking about things publicly is not a natural instinct.

But, I got coaching. I found amazing teachers that understood what it was like to be in a position of fear and they all shared 2 big principles that I want to share with you today:

1. If you fail, learn.

  • If you fall on your face, learn. Learn that it wasn't effective and pivot. That is progress, my friend.

2. Remember why and who you're doing it for -

  • When you obsess about the likes, attention, and accolades - you miss the mark. For me, sharing content isn't about getting awards or follows. I share content because I remember what it was like to wake up and feel scared to be myself. I know what it's like to hide behind someone else's words and not share my own. I post content to help other creative individuals step out and be more themselves.

So, stay in the game. Don't quit. Keep going.

Have a nice day.
